Walkable neigbhorhoods, a real plus to Lakewood living

From reading another realtor/bloggers post in another state I found a wonderful tool to use in accessing a neighborhood you may be considering.  With this tool you can acess how walkable your neighborhood is or one you are considering moving into is.

As of today we have been Lakewoodites ( is that what you call those of us who live in Lakewood?)  for one year.  How close everything is to our home is one of the biggest pluses to where we live.  We have loved being close to Cloverpark Highschool, Park Lodge Elementary, the Lakewood Towne Center, Several parks, Restaurants, the pet supply store, grocery stores, post office, freeway access and more.

So I used walkscore.com to score our home.  You guessed it, high scores!  83 out of 100.  :)
Other things that might be helpful if you are buying a home is to use walkscore to take a virtual "walk" down the street where you are considering living.  Sure you can use google maps this way too, and still I found the pictures much more like walking in the neighborhood than with google maps.  Of course you will want to take a "real" walk there too, and the pictures from walkscore may help you decide if you want to even go that far.

I am curious, where do you live and what is your walk score?  Is the walkability of your neighborhood one of the things that made you choose it?
